Friday is just a reminder that Monday is only three days away. In this edition, you can read about low-end laptop graphics, an interview with Paradox about the new Crusader Kings II DLC, another interview with the head of Origin and disappointingly low system requirements for Dark Souls. Also available is a tech demo trailer for 3D Mark 2012 and a speech given by Linus Torvalds.
There exist a particular group of gamers that are consumed by dreams of gigantic dual-SLI laptops that replace towering desktops. And who can blame them? Walking into a LAN party with a $5,000 laptop under your arm is the geek equivalent of entering a party wearing a $2,500 jacket or driving through your neighborhood in a $250,000 car. We can dream, right?
A new 3DMark is coming in 2012.
Aalto Talk with Linus Torvalds, hosted by Aalto Center for Entrepreneurship (ACE) in Otaniemi on June 14, 2012. Linus was interviewed by Will Cardwell and followed with a Q&A session with the audience.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months, you’ve no doubt seen the Cooler Master Cosmos II online or perhaps at your local hardware retailer or LAN party (although I pity the person responsible for lugging this heavyweight anywhere outside of their house). Cooler Master showcased what they call the ‘Ultra Tower’ at this year’s CES and we’ve been anxious to get it on the test bench ever since to see if it lives up to the hype.
Based on the Everest 2 platform and featuring Ndurance 2.0 technology, the OCZ Vertex 4 solid state drive arrives one year after they acquired the well-known flash controller manufacturer Indilinx. Boasting the industry’s best SATA-based I/O performance, the Vertex 4 series (VTX4-25SAT3) is designed to deliver optimized performance for enthusiasts wanting to capitalize on near-instant response times.
The virus that targets Windows machines has resulted in reports from US, India, Europe and South Amnerica of huge print jobs being sent to servers that then order printers to spew garbage characters until paper stocks runs out.
The GeForce 304.48 beta drivers include new performance optimizations that give all GeForce 400, 500, and 600 Series users faster frame rates in some of the most popular titles, giving gamers an even better experience. Please note that your results may vary depending on your hardware and software configuration.
If you want to sell a whole bunch of units, that is certainly a way to do that, to sell a whole bunch of stuff at a low price. The gamemakers work incredibly hard to make this intellectual property, and we’re not trying to be Target. We’re trying to be Nordstrom. When I say that, I mean good value – we’re trying to give you a fair price point, and occasionally there will be things that are on sale you could look for a discount, just don’t look for 75 percent off going-out-of-business sales.
I mean it doesn’t have great graphics, the interface and gameplay have not come as far as it has in some of the recent Paradox titles, but if you have even the slightest imagination you will really sink your teeth into this game.
Video Card: 512 MB RAM, ATI Radeon 4850 or higher, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT or higher
There are two main challenges for Muslims; dynastic decadence and “open” or Turkish succession. Basically, there is a stronger incentive to land your (many) sons in the Muslim world, because if you don’t, your dynasty will grow decadent. Landed sons, of course, are dangerous; when your ruler dies, they will be your landed brothers, and will be quite likely to launch succession wars.
