Out Of The Park Developments Acquires MLB License

Out Of The Park Developments has announced an agreement that will see the text-based baseball series, Out Of The Park, receive the use of official Major League Baseball rosters, logos and teams.  In addition, players will be able to use historical teams complete with their correct rosters and logos.   Information on which historical teams will be on hand at launch was not made available.

Markus Heinsohn briefly describes his excitement:

“We’re thrilled to be working with MLB Advanced Media to provide a feature that many of our fans have requested,” said lead developer and lifelong baseball fan Markus Heinsohn. “This promises to be the biggest year in the history of OOTP, and the best is yet to come.”

If this news were not enough to wet the appetites of PC baseball fans, you an pre-order OTTP 16 before February 15th, and get $5 off, a Steam key and automatically entered to win a $500 gift certificate for the official online MLB Shop.

With the downfall of graphically-based PC baseball games, this announcement shows there is indeed still interest from fans, developers, and MLB themselves.  Perhaps this is the first step to finally bring back PC baseball titles, not only for text-based fans, but those who want the full baseball experience found on consoles.
