While 2019 was a great year for video games, 2020 already looks like it could be even better. The long-awaited Cyberpunk 2077 releases this year, Animal Crossing and The Last of Us are getting sequels, but the thing that really takes the cake is the release of the new console by Sony.

What Is Playstation 5?
For those of you who aren’t knowledgeable when it comes to gaming consoles, PS5 is the next-gen console by Sony, that will replace their current consoles PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro. This console comes with improved gaming capabilities as well as some new features that we will talk about a bit later.
How Much Will It Cost?
The first question on everyone’s mind is probably the price. The company hasn’t released the exact price for PS5, but they did mention that it will cost somewhat more than their previous consoles. If we take into consideration that PS4 and PS4 Pro launched at $399, it would be reasonable to expect that PS5 will cost about $499 at launch.
What Are the Available Titles on Release?
So far, only a few titles have been confirmed, but you can expect some great new games and sequels on release. The new game Ghost of Tsushima is expected, as well as sequels like The Last of Us 2, new Horizon Zero Dawn and God of War games, Watch Dogs: Legion, Gods and Monsters, new Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry games. The new IP from Gearbox titled Godfall is also coming exclusively to PS5, but we will have to wait and see which other games will be available.
The console should also come with backward compatibility, so you will be able to play most of your favorite PS4 games.
Playstation 5 Specs
We don’t know a lot about what is under the hood of this console, but here is what we do know.
PS5 will use the AMD CPU and GPU to bring you the advanced lightning and ray tracing to bring you the best graphics possible. 8K gaming will also be supported so you can enjoy the details on the big screen. New SSD drive promises to improve the loading times by 19 times when compared to the traditional storage methods, and physical games will come on 100GB optical discs.
Remote Play is already a part of the PS4 package, so we can expect that feature to return, but there are also talks of PS5 supporting VR. Some other things like cloud-gaming were also mentioned, and backward compatibility will even allow you to play multiplayer with PS4 owners.
The new controller will also be available with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers to improve the user experience, but the console will also be compatible with the PS4 controller.
Last but Not Least, Release Date
The official confirmation by Sony states that the console will release in time for Holidays 2020. This puts the release date somewhere between October and December of the same year. The coronavirus might delay the release date, but we will have to wait and see about that.
