Virtual Reality or VR, is great. People love experiencing it, especially when running great gear and playing a great game. The problem with VR is that you need hardware to run games at a level which will not make you sick. On the other hand, the video games also need to be great, for the experience to be any better than playing with a keyboard or controller.
The hardware, you will need to purchase. The software, well, there are solutions for that part, you only need to pick the right games. Here are the best games for virtual reality which you can play at the moment.
The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim VR
Skyrim has been one of the most successful games and it was released in 2011. For an old game, Skyrim has gone through many iterations, most notably its Special Edition, which had updated graphics and offered something even better, an updated, 64bit engine, which removed bottlenecks and allowed modders to make the game even better.
A bit later, the VR version was released. It is available on HTC Vive and Oculus devices, as well as for the PlayStation consoles. The game allows you to play Skyrim as you normally would, except you can now use your weapons with your hands. Nothing beats drawing your bow and hitting a sneak critical strike on a nearby giant, just to have it stomp all over and launch a bandit into space.
Beat Saber is a game where you slash colored boxes while following the beat of a song. The game only has 10 songs of its own, but it also has a built in editor which you can use to make your own songs. You can also download songs which people made and add to your collection. The game is in a similar style to Guitar Hero, where notes or rather, blocks, fly towards you.
Doom from 2016 is a highly praised game. People couldn’t wait for the sequel, called Doom: Eternal, so they made their own port, called Doom VFR. given that it is an adaptation for VR, it has a different story and gameplay has been tweaked. It is a game where you are meant to stand and fight off hordes of demons. This means fast-paced action. Make sure that your hardware is up to date, as the game has plenty of graphics which can make you sick if the frame times are bad.
Batman: Arkham VR
You will not get the fast-paced action of Doom, but you will get to play as your favorite superhero detective who frightens criminals. The game has a teleportation-based system which sends you to the manor, the city or the Bat Cave. It might not be the right game for everyone, but Batman fans will surely enjoy it.
These are some of the best VR games which you can play today. Some are older, some newer, but all exciting and entertaining in their own ways.
